LPC Library Losing Director in June, Programs Continue

"Bittersweet" transition coming June 1st, but regular library programs still going full steam ahead.

LPC Public Library Director Jake Rochford-Volk is stepping down as the library's director this June. He says that a library network in Illinois made an offer that he couldn't refuse, and that the transition is bittersweet.

Despite this, library programming is still going strong.

The library recently launched the "1,000 Books before Kindergarten" program, which is designed to help littles develop a love for reading and set them up for developing great literacy skills. You can register at the library to get your child's name on the "1,000 Books" wall, and track their progress with visual markers. This visible tracker also gives the public a chance to congratulate littles on their book milestones when they see them around town.

KRTR Local will chat with Jake again towards the end of May to get a preview of summer programs for LPC families.
