Dysart Makes Progress Toward New Public Works Facility

Dysart’s planned public works facility still needs additional land before demolition can be scheduled, City Clerk Tabby Kaiser told KRTR in a September 30 email.
Kaiser said the additional land is needed to meet building-code requirements. The city still hopes to seek bids in October. She said construction costs are expected to remain roughly the same, with land acquisition an additional expense, but did not provide a revised dollar estimate.
At its September 9 meeting, the City Council approved $12,000 to demolish old buildings and authorized an engineering agreement for the project. Those approvals do not establish that demolition or construction has begun.
Kaiser also identified an April deadline for a $25,000 Black Hawk Gaming grant and said the city is trying to meet the construction timeline. A total project budget and firm demolition and construction dates have not yet been confirmed.
