Bridge Work by LPC Casey's - What To Expect
The Big Creek Overflow Bridge on highway 218 by Casey's in La Porte City is under construction - the Iowa DOT website states that this is a bridge replacement project, and that one lane of the bridge will remain open during the construction.
At the time of writing this, the south-bound side of the bridge is closed, and there are temporary traffic signals to alternate north/south traffic over the one lane of the bridge. Traffic should flow fairly normally during non-peak times. During commute times, you may want to bypass the bridgework - just hang a right onto Main Street, which connects to highway 218 across from Compressed Air & Equipment.
The lane closure does start right in front of the Casey's. The easiest ways to enter are at the south driveway if northbound, and the north driveway if south bound. The easiest exit from Casey's to the roadway is the south driveway regardless of which direction you intend to go - it does have a dedicated stop light to help traffic control.
This project is scheduled to be finished by late September.
